IDAC Focus Areas

What is IDAC?
Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC) draws members from parents to represent our school at district level climate assessment/problem-solving meetings. The primary purpose of the Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), originally formed in 1988 as the Intercultural Advisory Council, is to assist in the formation and review of policies that assure non-discriminatory practices in all operational areas of the Clovis Unified School District. Its further mission is to assist in improving the cultural environment of the District.

More information about IDAC can be found at the CUSD IDAC webpage (CLICK HERE).

Staff Training of Cultural Understanding

Each year, Valley Oak continues to grow in diversity. Ethnic diversity, ability diversity and socioeconomically diversity is an ever changing reality of Valley Oak. As one of the smallest elementary schools in CUSD, we have a greater number of students that transfer to Valley Oak from outlying districts. Being smaller, we also have the ability to have four special education classes on campus. We are thrilled our site is now a continuum for students with autism in grades PK-6th. Lastly, the economy has changed many of our families financial situations that can include more mobile situations.
